I'm still alive! Made it through the first week intact, more or less.
I finally put up a word counter over there on the side bar so that you can spy on my progress. I would have done it earlier, but they weren't available on the website when NaNo began. Just to warn you, I'm taking the rest of the week off to work on plotting so the counter's probably not going to start moving again until next week.
I'm enjoying the process much more this time around. Not a single tear so far! I'll elaborate once the month is over.
Until then, keep your fingers crossed for me. Or your toes, if your fingers begin to cramp. However, I don't recommend crossing your eyes for any length of time. :-)

Be careful, a week off could get you out of the habit and make it tough to get back to. Glad to hear no tears are involved, I don't remember having that feeling just "OMG that was a fast 24 hours and now I have to write again!" I don't think I remember a time when time passed more quickly:-) I'm glad it's not overwhelming you so far, and that the trend continues!
No worries about the week off. I've got this. I've discovered a really good system for me this year. Scene writing instead of chapter writing. I need to know the goal of each scene though, in order to do it, hence the week off to plot. I wish I'd figured this out before NaNo started, but it's just one of those things where I couldn't know until I tried and since you're not allowed to start actually writing before November.... Anyway, I'm not worried. My writing goes much MUCH faster this way so the fact that I'll have to write more in order to make up for this week isn't a concern.
It's all in the learning, glad it's going well. Home after 3 days at Mom's--and we didn't even do what I went there for! lol
