I need to stop with the food photos of the day.  The blog is starting to read like some of those awful Twitter feeds.  You know the ones.  Got a paper cut!  Thinking about trimming my hair a quarter inch!  Ate a shrimp po-boy with sweet potato fries!

I've just had some exceptionally good meals this week.  Yesterday it was pizza with sun-dried tomatoes, feta, and pesto.  Amazing.

But no more food photos for a while.

My Hipstamatic photo of the day.  Shrimp po-boy and sweet potato fries.  Delicious!

Quiet moments.

I rarely post family photos, but every now and then I just can't help myself.

I took yet more photos of my niece a few months ago and finally got around to editing them today.  I love these three in particular because they remind me of watercolors.  Probably because of the hazy quality and soft sherbert colors.

My neighbors.

Don't let the seeming serenity fool you.  Those ducks spend half the day arguing.  Loudly.  And it's worse when the geese visit.  Still, it's not a bad view.

My Hipsta pic of the day.  A red poppy in anticipation of Memorial Day.  Made out of napkins from the dollar store.  The things you learn on the interwebs.

I have a feeling that this challenge is going to make me long for an iPhone 4s with its 8 megapixel camera.  Unfortunately, my 3.2 will have to do for now.

Photo challenges.

I've been a lazy picture taker lately.  I decided that since I'd like to become a better photographer I'd better step up my game and actually, you know, take some photos.  I'm challenging myself to a Hipsta pic a day.  Hipstamatic is my favorite camera app and although it's not going to help me learn how to use the big camera, it will get me back into the habit of taking pictures.

The problem with using the big camera daily is that I take entirely too many and then spend a half an hour editing each one.  So, challenge #2 is that when I do pull out the big camera I am allowed only 10 photos at a time.  The exception being vacations and special events.  This should force me to work on my photo taking skills and quit relying on post-editing.

I doubt I'll post my photos everyday, but I'll try to share them at least a couple times a week.

Well?

Notice anything different?  I planned on waiting until I overhauled the entire thing before sharing, but couldn't wait to put the new header up.  It's not exactly what I want, but it's much better than the old one.

I still need to adjust the margins—see how the header isn't centered?—change colors, create matching Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest buttons, etc., so there's lots to do.

One of these days I'll post about the process of picking a new blog title.
